mHUB

Gensler · Chicago, IL

mHUB is a nonprofit innovation center for hardware and manufacturing startups, set in a 1926 warehouse in Chicago’s Fulton Market district that had been sitting empty.  Gensler reworked 80,000 square feet into eleven labs, from woodworking and metals to electronics, plastics as well as textiles, along with meeting rooms and member lounges.  The concrete columns and old steel windows stayed, and new work in black, wood and bright linear light runs between them.  Executive Construction built it, with Syska Hennessy Group on mechanical, electrical and plumbing.
